EXCLUSIVE : After a scenario involving domestic abuse, troubled football player Taylan May suspends his NRL career to address mental health concerns……

Due to mental health issues, a former Panthers player suspends their career.

Currently receiving therapy in a private institution is Taylan May.

Just weeks after receiving the all-clear to rejoin the NRL, troubled former Penrith Panthers player Taylan May has decided to put his football career on indefinite hiatus in order to concentrate on his mental health.

When his wife failed to appear in court after claiming he had verbally threatened her, punched her in the eye, and struck her forehead, the 23-year-old’s domestic violence charges were dropped earlier this year.

In addition to two counts of stalking or intimidation with the intent to instill fear, May had entered a not guilty plea to assault causing actual bodily harm and two counts of violating an existing AVO.

After receiving approval from ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys to resume playing, the gifted young player was rumored to be of interest to the Tigers.

The football player is currently receiving therapy for mental health concerns in a private institution, as verified by May’s manager Ahmad Merhi.

Merhi told News Corp, “He’s getting help for some struggles he needs to deal with.”

We had a conversation about making the correct decisions going forward.

In addition to pursuing artistic pursuits like music since his divorce in 2024, Mat has been open about his religious convictions, most recently joining Bible studies.

Would you like to participate in my Bible studies? He added, “I’ll be running it every Thursday at 6 p.m. dm for location.”

“It makes no difference what religion you practice.”

Fans were intrigued when May hinted at a sudden change in her professional path last month, moving from rugby league to music.

The football player changed his name to “Mayfair” and has started sharing sneak peeks of his songs on social media.

With the Panthers, May had a tumultuous past.

Before the accusations of domestic abuse, he was convicted of striking a juvenile fan who had recorded him at a 2021 post-grand final party.

He received criticism last year for sharing videos of himself driving too fast.

May briefly deleted his social media accounts after the event drew attention from Penrith management and the NRL Integrity Unit.

In reaction to the speeding incident, May stated, “I was in the car, but I wasn’t driving – I can’t say who was driving.”

He subsequently apologized for the publicity his profile brought to the issue.
