BREAKING NEWS : Although qualification restrictions impede the move, Leeds Rhinos are pursuing a deal for a Brisbane star…….

Although quota restrictions are probably going to prevent any transfer, Leeds Rhinos are interested in a deal to sign Brisbane Broncos star Jock Madden.

Madden was reportedly a top target for Leeds head coach Brad Arthur, who was searching for extra options in the halves, according to reports from Code Sports in Australia

Madden has received numerous offers from clubs, but his contract with the Broncos is set to expire at the end of the upcoming season. During the winter, rumors of a move were once more circulating.

However, given that Madden has barely missed qualifying requirements, any transfer to the Super League appears to have been put on hold.

Super League rules stipulate that any player joining from the NRL must have participated in half of their team’s NRL games during the previous season. However, last year, the rules were relaxed to permit players who competed in the Queensland Cup and New South Wales competitions and were younger than a specific age to join.

  • But Leeds would need special permission to recruit Madden because he is 25 and was a member of Brisbane’s team. Last season, he made 10 appearances for the Broncos, falling just short of the necessary 50% margin.
  • If Madden had agreed to a transfer for the short term, he would have joined a sizable half-back department at Leeds, but that means any deal is probably off now.
  • Any move is therefore probably off the tab? ‘
  • There, players like Jack Sinfield, Jake Connor, Matt Frawley, and Brodie Croft can all play. But by the conclusion of this season, there will probably be doubts about Croft and Frawley’s futures.
