On the last day in Arizona, Hyo-Joo Kim of South Korea emerged victorious in a play-off for the Ford Championship, while Charley Hull of England was unable to mount a threat.
Kim beat American Lilia Vu on the first extra hole to claim her seventh LPGA title after they finished tied on 22 under par at Whirlwind Golf Club’s Cattail Course.
After shooting a one-under 71, her lowest total of the tournament, Hull, who entered the final round in second position, two strokes behind leader Vu, ended tied for 11th on 17 under.
After starting the day four strokes behind, Kim had nine birdies in a 64 to catch up to Vu, who finished in 68.
Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand was a shot behind American Allisen Corpuz, who scored a 65 to finish third on 21 under.
With a round of 69, American reigning champion Nelly Korda, who had fallen out of contention with a third-round score of 73, tied for 22nd place on 14 under. Related subjects
