Pat McAfee and a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion squared off in a major match that was added to WWE BackLash.
On the April 28 broadcast of Monday Night Raw, a major match was revealed as WWE BackLash 2025 draws near. GUNTHER, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, will face Pat McAfee.
McAfee replaced his colleague on the commentary booth when Gunther assaulted Michael Cole the week before. Gunther then attacked McAfee, choking him to sleep as officials attempted to disperse them, ending their brief stand. As a result of such action, Gunther was removed from the show and off of television for a few weeks.
Before calling out acting SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who scheduled the match for the upcoming PLE, McAfee launched into a lengthy digression about his origins.
McAfee will not be a newcomer to the wrestling ring. His final singles match was at WrestleMania 39 against The Miz, and he participated in the 2024 Royal Rumble for a little while. Although McAfee has only fought eight times, he has faced some well-known opponents, including as Adam Cole, Baron Corbin, and Vince McMahon.
However, how will he do against Gunther? The response should be that he would be smashed, but only time will tell. Unless he is assisted by someone like Bill Goldberg, who organizes the latter’s retirement match.
The fact that Pat McAfee won this battle will make headlines. He is currently among the most well-known figures in entertainment and sports. What began as a sports channel has been transformed by the former NFL kicker into one of the largest media outlets in the business today. WWE is looking for this kind of public recognition, particularly in light of Endeavor’s acquisition and the creation of TKO Group Holdings in partnership with the UFC.
