Jack Gosiewski’s arm injury will keep him out of action for at least eight weeks, according to the Brisbane Broncos.
In the first round of the season, the second-rower, who joined the Broncos from the North Queensland Cowboys in the middle of 2024, surprised everyone by starting ahead of the gifted young player Brendan Piakura. He has maintained his position for the first six rounds since.
A member of a Broncos team that has been close to the top of the table due to his work ethic and defensive prowess, Gosiewski will now miss at least eight weeks of action due to an arm injury.
On Monday night, he underwent surgery to fix the fracture.
The club’s head of performance, Dave Ballard, confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “Jack is recovering after having surgery on Monday night.”
Despite missing this weekend due to injury, Piakura is expected to replace Gosiewski when Brisbane is fully healthy for the next two months. Jaiyden Hunt will take his second-row berth alongside Jordan Riki, who is returning.
After losing to the Roosters the previous weekend, Brisbane has won four of their last six games. This weekend, they will play the New Zealand Warriors away from home to begin a challenging stretch of their calendar, which also includes games against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury Bulldogs, and Penrith Panthers.
Gosiewski is also expected to miss games against the St George Illawarra Dragons, Manly Sea Eagles, and Gold Coast Titans. However, he will have the opportunity to return following Brisbane’s second bye when they play the Cronulla Sharks at home on Sunday, June 22 in Round 16.
