The Boise State running back has popped up as the predicted choice for the Raiders a few times.
There is increasing talk that the Las Vegas Raiders may select Ashton Jeanty, a great running back from Boise State, with the sixth overall choice.
In addition to the Raiders’ ardent supporters, general manager John Spytek has another source urging him to select the running back—his son Jack.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM Radio, Spytek discussed how his son is giving him a fascinating ultimatum about the Raiders’ plans for the first-round draft.
“My son has made it no secret that if we don’t pick Ashton Jeanty at No. 6 that he’s walking out of the family and he’s gonna find somebody else, probably whoever takes Ashton,” Spytek disclosed. “He walked right into our building and basically told [owner] Mark Davis ‘If my dad doesn’t take Ashton Jeanty, he’s doing a bad job.'”
“My oldest son has made it clear that he will leave the family and find someone else, most likely whoever takes Ashton Jeanty, if we don’t pick him up at six. Fantasy football and touchdowns are what drive Jack.
For the sake of his family, Spytek seems to need to draft Jeanty.
It keeps coming up that Jeanty will be the Raiders’ sixth-pick selection. In his most recent mock draft, Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated even had Las Vegas select Jeanty. In his February mock draft, Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN also predicted that the Raiders would select Jeanty.
