- Chanel Williams, the sister of The Vivienne, told the BBC that ketamine is a very hazardous substance that is getting more and more common in the UK. “This entire tragedy will have a positive outcome if we can help spread awareness of the risks associated with this drug and assist those who may be struggling with ketamine addiction.”
The inquest examining The Vivienne’s death is scheduled for June.
On January 5, the pioneering inaugural RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner was found dead at home. After being chosen as the UK Drag Ambassador for the highly regarded reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race, the Vivienne initially became well-known in drag circles in 2015. Last year, the Vivienne made their West End debut and became the first drag artist to appear on Dancing on Ice in 2023, joining the cast of Season 15.
Following their passing, we’ve learned that the Drag Race production team is creating Dear Viv, a documentary honoring the performer’s impact and achievements.
